Juddmonte's champion and top young sire Frankel (GB) (Galileo {Ire}) earned another accolade to his burgeoning stud career Sunday, with his first-crop daughter Soul Stirring (Jpn)'s victory in Tokyo's G1 Yushun Himba giving him a first Classic victory as a sire. However, in Rome, it was Juddmonte barnmate Bated Breath's time to shine, as Vik the Billy became the 2012 G2 Temple S. victor's first black-type winner, with his oldest progeny just 3-year-olds. Off the mark at first asking in a 1000-metre debutante affair at San Siro Apr. 30, the daughter of the winning Epiphany was the sixth runner from her dam to salute the judge. Second choice Sunday behind the coupled entry of 4-5 chalks Red Impact (GB) (Paco Boy {Ire}) and Rock of Sprint (Ire) (Rock of Gibraltar {Ire}), the 7-2 shot adhered to the fence just behind the leaders from her rail draw through the first 200 metres. Pilot Federico Bossa cut Vik the Billy loose shortly thereafter and she quickly stormed to the head of affairs. Cantering away from her foes 200 metres out, she was wrapped up well before the winning post for a first black-type rosette while maintaining her perfect record. Vik the Billy's third dam is the MGSW Madame Dubois (GB) (Legend of France), responsible for Italian juvenile highweight Count Dubois (GB) (Zafonic), who scored in the G1 Gran Criterium, as well as the G1 Irish 2000 Guineas hero Indian Haven (GB) (Indian Ridge {Ire}).
